Our Team

Harriet was the Co-founder of Home Instead Senior Care Wollongong in 2014 with her mother Su Middleton. Confident in Harriet’s expertise and knowledge, Su retired as Director in 2020. With extensive experience within community and business services Harriet brings a wealth of industry and professional experience to the Home Instead Office.

“I was inspired to open Home Instead by my personal experiences with my grandmother. A lady that shaped who I am today, I was profoundly moved watching her decline with Dementia. Our company is named after my grandmother and we deliver care services based on how we would deliver care to our own loved ones. It’s important to me that our clients are given dignity, care and support throughout their final years.”

Harriet lives Home Instead’s mission daily and is passionate about providing consistent and quality care to our clients through her role of Operations Manager. As Director, Harriet works closely with all departments to maximise efficiencies and deliver the best results to our clients, CAREGivers and industry stakeholders. Harriet is committed to delivering an exceptional, personalised service with every client and a supportive and caring employment for all CAREGivers and Key Players.

Harriet spends her weekends with her daughter, husband and their menagerie of animals on the South Coast of NSW. Harriet has a close knit family and loves nothing more than sharing a meal and a laugh with her loved ones.

Alli joins Home Instead following 18 years of experience training and coaching people with disabilities, staff, and executives. Alli is passionate about breaking up the monotony of training and always ensures that her training is delivered in a way that is engaging, fun and importantly, never boring!

“I try to give my best in everything I do, whether this is at work, my personal life or sport. I love to see people achieve goals they never though possible and I hope that people have learnt at least one thing after my training sessions.”

Alli grew up in a small town, attending a school with only 13 other children. After Alli’s mum passed away in 1978, they moved to the “big smoke” and soon she was in a school with 400 children. Alli always wanted to be a Policewoman or a Stunt Woman but became a Signwriter instead. She has called the Illawarra home for the last 20 years. Alli is a sport nut and has even represented Australia in Touch Football. In her spare time Alli loves to go bushwalking, travelling, cooking and spending time with her rescue dog.

As Learning and Development Manager, Alli is pivotal in empowering CAREGivers in their role and giving them the practical skills to be able to provide care services to their clients. Alli leads the People Experience team with passion and dedication to achieve our vision of being the Employer of Choice in the Illawarra.

Sonya joined the Home Instead office team in 2021 and uses her 15 years of human resources experience to help her recruit amazing new CAREGivers. She really enjoys her role with Home Instead as she is able to make a difference in the lives of others and work with a company which takes a personal approach to aged care.

Sonya’s role involves interacting and engaging with people who are enquiring about working with Home Instead as both CAREGivers or Key Player. She loves the fact that Home instead values personal attributes not just formal qualifications.

“I enjoy working at HISC because it is far more rewarding in the sense that it is more personal, and at the end of the day I can hopefully make a difference in finding and engaging quality people to work within our company and the Aged Care Industry”.

When Sonya is not working hard, she can be found spending time in her veggie garden, being outside and spending time with family and friends.

Sharryn joined Home Instead in 2015 as a CAREGiver. In 2021, Sharryn accepted the role of Community Engagement Coordinator. “I thoroughly enjoyed my role as a CAREGiver for Home Instead. I was grateful to be able to work alongside an amazing team of CAREGivers and a very supportive management team. I had so many beautiful clients who would always make my day a joy when attending to their needs in their homes”.

In her role Sharryn is responsible for increasing awareness of the Home Instead brand as an Aged Care and NDIS service provider through marketing and networking within the community. You will find Sharryn creating community partnerships, events and initiatives on behalf of Home Instead Wollongong.

“I was born in the Illawarra and have lived here my whole life. The Illawarra has so much to offer & find the best thing is that it sits right between the mountains and the sea. So much to see and do whether you love the bushy outdoors or the sand between your toes”.

When Sharryn is not at work she can be found relaxing with a wine while catching up with friends or going for walks amongst nature.

Joy brings a wealth of experience to the Home Instead office. Joy is an experienced Care Manager, having previously worked in IRT and Hammond Care and she thoroughly understands the importance of organisation and flexibility. Joy’s passionate about making information as accessible as possible and working with her clients to maintain their independence.

Joy is responsible for successfully directing and coordinating all activities associated with the care of potential and existing clients. This role provides leadership and management of the overall client experience and requires Joy to coordinate effectively with the office team to ensure that all interactions support the needs and best interests of the client, while supporting the achievement of operational goals.

Joy supports a team of Care Managers to drive success and customer centric outcomes.

In her personal life, Joy is well-travelled, having lived in many different locations within Australia. Family is central to Joy’s life: she has been with her spouse for 28 years and has a total of 10 grandchildren. When not at work, Joy loves cooking, reading, and bushwalking.

Maria joined the team in early 2022. Maria has spent her career working in the disability sector, primarily managing day programs for the past 20 years. As a Care Manager, Maria is responsible for directing and coordinating all activities associated with the care of potential and existing Ability Care and NDIS clients. In her role, Maria understands the importance of listening and not acting as a “know it all”. Maria recognises the importance of supporting clients and remembering they are experts in them.

“My parents emigrated to Australia from Spain, and I grew up in Shellharbour where the younger me took advantage of the beautiful beaches.” Maria credits her parents as the most influential people in her life “for the love they shared and for having the courage to forge a new life in Australia”.

When not at work, Maria enjoys reading, watching period dramas, and watching football. Maria has a penchant for travel and has already had the privilege of visiting countries in Europe and the Americas. Western Australia is now on the bucket list!

Nathan has been informally involved with Home Instead since 2014 as he is the supportive husband of Director Harriet, but formally joined the Home Instead team in 2021 as the Head of Client Services.

An Electrical Engineer by trade, Nathan now leads the Business Development team, helping to support prospective clients navigate the tricky maze of Aged Care. His passion is identifying any and all opportunity to maximise funding, resources and working with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve client centered goals and outcomes. Nathan supports a caseload of clients to achieve exactly this.

Although local to the Illawarra, Nathan has worked in Canberra and Melbourne, but he has “settled on the South Coast of NSW. Once Harriet and I had our little girl, we realized how much family means to us, so we wanted to be close by (not TOO close though!)”

When not at work, Nathan enjoys spending time with his family, maintaining his property, and mowing, somewhat helped by his six pet sheep – Maui, Kevin, Roger, George, Ringo, and Paul.

Mariah joined Home Instead in March 2023 and is one of our Client Care Coordinators within the Care Management team, working alongside Care Managers to provide administrative support and directly assist our client’s and their care needs. Mariah and the Client Care Coordination team, assist two departments; Care Management and Quality to deliver and monitor quality care services.

“I assist Care Managers with organising the administration work of their client’s.  I try to make every client feel looked after, I try to check-in with them every step of the way to ensure they feel supported and heard”.

Mariah joined the Aged Care Industry when she joined our team here, having previously worked in administration and enrolment for a Training Organisation and brings with her a genuine passion for helpings others. “I want to see everyone happy in this world especially those most vulnerable. I once heard a quote that stuck with me, be kind on your parents, grandparents and elderly loved ones, this is also their first time on this earth’.

Born and raised in the Illawarra, Mariah is a beach lover at heart. Mariah enjoys being active and outdoors, walking, travel, going to the gym and eating good food! “my dad is from Italy and my mum is Australian. Some of my favourite memories are in my Nonna’s kitchen cooking pasta and pizza. My Nonna impacted me as she was always no matter what, she showed me that food can always bring people together”.

We welcomed Bec into the Client Services Department in February 2023 as one of our Client Services Coordinators. Bec brings her infectious happy, bubbly attitude to the office every day, and prides herself on interacting with every Home Instead client in a friendly, respectful way.

“I am in the Scheduling Department and speak with CAREGivers and clients each day.  Every time I speak with clients, I want to make them feel like family and treat them with respect and dignity. In my previous position in retail I found that, quite often the customers that came in lived alone and had no family, I may have been the only social interaction they had all day, and I loved bringing a smile to their faces”.

Bec grew up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney and moved to the Illawarra with her husband to raise their family. Returning to the workforce after raising her children, Bec started a role in Retail, working largely with our elderly community. Interacting with her elderly customer is what ultimately brought Bec to us – “I love being that listening ear, making sure our lovely clients know we are here for them”. Bec enjoys spending quality time with her family, paddle-boarding and planning her next travel adventure!

Lisa joined team Home Instead in February 2023 in a Care Manager position. Lisa’s role as Senior Care Manager provides direct support to our Care Management team, as well as managing and supporting her own client list. Lisa has been in Community Aged Care since 2018, previous to that working as a restaurant manager and caring for her own Grandparents, at home with complex needs. Lisa prides herself on getting to know all of her clients and their families so that she is better able to support their care needs and support any individual cultural needs.

“ I love being a Care Manager, as a Care Manager I am better able to implement change that will allow a client to stay at home safely for as long as possible. I am a Carer at heart. If I can help someone I always will. I will always advocate for what is best for the people around me that are vulnerable or do not have a voice”.

Born and raised in Goulburn, Lisa and her family moved to the Illawarra in the late 80’s. When Lisa is not at work, you can find her spending time with her children, watching their weekend sporting activities, and spending time perfecting her gardens and lawn!

As our Clinical Consultant, Inge is responsible for clinical decision making with any Third Party, Allied Health or Clinical Support clients, as well as clinically reviewing Client Care Plans. Working largely “behinds the scenes” in Clinical Governance, SIRS and Continuous Improvement. Inge works effectively with the office team to ensure that all interactions support the needs and best interests of our client and assists with incident management and any complex clinical issues, alongside our Care Managers.

Joining us in 2022, Inge is a Registered Nurse, with over 25 years working in Aged Care, the majority of this time in Residential Care.

“I like to assist our clients and their families to feel empowered with choice and the care and support they need. I am strongly motivated by making a difference in peoples’ live, irrespective of who they are. I have core values of integrity, justice, honesty, and compassion. It is nice to work with a company like Home Instead who shares my values”.

Inge grew up in a small country town with her Danish father and Australian mother, sharing in their passion for furniture making.  “ I love the country and for all who know me, know that my heart is still there. The Illawarra is a great compromise between the city and the country, and I often refer to this region as ‘God’s country’. Inge loves sharing good food with good friends and enjoys cooking a BBQ for all!

“I am actively involved in my local church community and am a part of a local charity. These groups also align with my values. I do also really enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles, much to my family’s dismay”.

As a Client Care Coordinator, Lara interacts with your wonderful clients every day, “. I assist our clients by ordering items, such as mobility equipment, organising home modifications and booking cleaning, physiotherapy, podiatry, and other professional services required”.

Lara Joined Home Instead in mid-2023 and has thrived in her client focused role in the Care Management Department. “I always take the time to listen to our clients and their needs, working closely with them to make them feel supported and cared for. Regular conversations with our clients keep the lines of communication open and builds trust in Home Instead”.

Lara is originally from the United Kingdom and grew up in London. Lara’s background is in Marketing, running her own business both here and in the U.K. Lara has also worked in the automotive, luxury travel, retail and NFP industries. Lara enjoys being outdoors and pottering in her garden.

Candice started with Home Instead in 2021, completing a traineeship and qualification in Business Administration. Candice is our Office Administration whizz and works diligently to keep our office running smoothly. Candice’s bright and bubbly, positive attitude shines through when taking any incoming phone calls, or when welcoming anyone who attends the office face-to-face.

“I am the Office Administrator, and my role sees me doing a little bit of everything. From taking calls and assisting with enquires to sending out cards and correspondence to clients, helping CAREGivers with tech issues or assisting with the orientation of new CAREGivers, keeping the office neat and tidy or placing office orders.  I like to think of myself as a jack of all trades and have been described as the duct tape of the office the way that I jump in and help my colleagues. I like to think that we should spread kindness like glitter and live our Core Values everyday!”.

Before joining our team, Candice worked in Childcare, but has found her passion in the Aged Care Industry in working with Home Instead. “Having worked in Early Childhood Education for 5 years, I have learned a lot about myself also. It taught me the importance of compassion, kindness, patience and looking at things from a different point of view.  These skill sets have proven to be transferable from my previous role to this role which I think is better than anything you can learn from a book”.  When she is not at work, you will find Candice listening to music and doing puzzles, any kind of craft that she can get my hands on, op shopping, watching cooking shows, terribly cheesy reality tv or playing Animal Crossing.

Julia started working with us in 2020 as an Administration Trainee and has worked her way up within the company ever since. With some time away to pursue her dream of working as a Paramedic, Julia returned to Home Instead in 2023 into the role of Care Manager and now as an Executive Assistant.

As an Executive Assistant, Julia works alongside Harriet, the Director of Home Instead Wollongong, to revamp existing policies and procedures to improve the lives of clients, CAREGivers and Key Players. “My goal in everything I do at Home Instead is to put our people at the centre. I love that I can use my passion for quality processes and administration to make a real difference in people’s lives. It feels good that, despite not being directly involved in delivering care, I can still play a part in creating positive change for everyone involved with Home Instead Wollongong.”

“While working with NSW Ambulance, I began to see the immense need for elderly patients to remain safe at home and out of hospital. I noticed how little my patients knew of their rights and available support to keep them at home. I wanted to be a source of knowledge and support for the elderly population in the Illawarra, so made the decision to return to Home Instead as a Care Manager. Now as an Executive Assistant, I can work with our senior leaders to continuously improve our service, and put the elderly people of our community at the forefront of their care.”

Julia’s grew up between the coastal town of Kiama and the Southern Highlands. Away from the Office Julia is an avid seamstress, enjoys reading with a particular interest in literary fiction and dystopian novels. Julia lives with her partner and their two Labradoodles, Maggie & Penny.

Katie is the Learning & Development office here at Home Instead, having joined the team back in 2021 in a Client Services role – Katie soon transitioned into the Training space. Having a natural ability nurture those around her and with a previous career in the Australian Navy, process and procedure are her thing!

“My past experiences are very diverse. I served in the Australian Navy for 13 years full time as a Communication and Information specialist. I deployed to the Arabian Gulf for a 6-month deployment and conducted numerous exercises in Southeast Asia. I still work for the Navy Reserves in an Administration role remotely from home. I worked at IRT for a year as a Scheduler and at WIN Stadium as a Duty Manager”.

Katie conducts our Orientation sessions with new staff, and other training including annual Medication and Manual Handling refreshers, and also completes CAREGiver Annual reviews.

Katie grew up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, until joining the Navy at age 18. After Spending her training in Southern Australia, then moving to Western Australia for 11 years, where she met her husband and raised two children. Katie and her family returned to the Illawarra to be closer to family and the ocean. When Katie is nit at work, you can find her on early morning walks with her dog Jax, and getting away on weekends with the family on camping trips.

Renae initially started with Home Instead in 2022 as a CAREGiver, then not long after, transitioned into an office role. Renae now manages our team of Care Coordinators within the Care Management team. “I am lucky enough to be able to interact with and assist our beautiful clients, as well as work alongside our dedicated Care Managers completing their administration tasks. I love working at Home Instead. It is a supportive team environment - everyone here is like my work family. I get to use my experience in office administration as well work with our clients”.

Renae has worked in Administration or the best part of 25 years and has also worked as a Teachers Aid and a Swim Teacher. Many years ago, Renae was fortunate enough to help care for her gorgeous Nanna.

Renae has lived in the Illawarra the most of her life, with a short time spent in Central Queensland and Airlie Beach. “I love going to the beach – I would live there if I could! Nothing beats the salt water and waves, and my kids love going there too. I also like to catch a movie and really enjoy eating out with family and friends”.

Tracey is another Home Instead Employee that started in CAREGiving in 2021 and transitioned into an office role in early 2022. Tracey is one of wonderful Client Services Specialist and prides herself on placing the right CAREGiver with the right client. “I want both client and CAREGiver to feel heard and acknowledged and valued. I look to consider the clients’ needs, personality, and preferences so that it is a positive and life affirming experience for both client and CAREGiver. Problem solving and thinking outside of the box is a big part of that which I really enjoy. I believe that all persons are worthy of respect and to be treated with dignity and care”.

Tracey completed a Bachelor of Arts in Community and Social Services and worked for six years in the My Aged Care Contact Centre assisting older Australians access subsidised Aged Care Services.

Tracey grew up the youngest of seven children, in Country NSW - “the summers where searing and the winter mornings icy. I was raised not only on a steady diet of simple county food but also on stories from WW2 when my mother served in the Australian Women’s Land Army. For that reason, I have often considered myself an old soul and thank my mother for my love of history and early Australian life”.

Ally started her role here as a CAREGiver, making the transition to the office 12 months later, into the Client Services Team. Ally’s goal of moving into Care Management came to fruition early 2023, after completing her qualification in Community Services. Ally now forms part of our Care Management team, bringing her wealth of CAREGiving and Scheduling knowledge with her.

Ally brings her positive and happy attitude to work, sharing her heart by treating all clients with respect and a friendly voice on the other line. “ I treat all clients with respect and a friendly voice on the other line, and take the lead when a client is in need, and action is a priority. I love how each person at Home Instead has a passion for what they do and we all work collaboratively to achieve the very best for our clients. It's a wonderful culture within the office with people who want to make a difference to older people in our community and their families.

Prior to joining Home Instead, Ally worked in residential care and also in the medical industry within administration and customer service roles, “this experience helped my understanding on what my client’s needs are and how different everyone's needs can be”.

Ally grew up in Sydney, with her family, “my parents are easily the most amazing parents who shaped me to be the strong and compassionate person I am today. My favourite food growing up was any food my beautiful mum cooked. Kindness and honesty are the values I live by and Instil in my daughters.  When I am not at work, I am with my three beautiful girls. They keep me busy and keep me grounded. I love hanging with my family and friends also and try to catch up for quality time as much as I can, enjoying laughs and good times.

I also enjoy watching my favourite shows on Netflix/streaming and going to beach or lake for a swim or relaxation”.

Tama came to Home Instead in early 2022, as our Administration Manager, transitioning soon after into the role of Client Services Specialist. Tama is responsible for the detailed scheduling of our 24hr Ability Care (NDIS) Clients, who receive continuous 24 hour a day support from our CAREGiving team.

“I love my role at Home Instead because it is an industry I am passionate about.  The culture here at Home Instead is unique and fabulous. Every day is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact and change the face of ageing”.

Tama studied a Bachelor of Politics and Sociology, gaining knowledge in comparative and international politics, and political theory, and developed strong transferable skills of independent thinking, research and analysis. “I also gained a knowledge of how to understand social structures, to challenge and improve standards of living. Some of my values are integrity, humility, selflessness and compassion. My role here alongside my studies have taught me vital skills in understanding real-life social issues”.

Tama is a Wollongong local, enjoys a coffee at a local café, good food, walking her dog, reading, volunteering and, a spot of powerlifting at the gym!

Amelia is one of our wonderful Care Managers, and works in collaboration with our clients, their families and any other allied health providers, to develop a personalise care plan that best suits her clients. “by working closely and holistically with all involved, helps assist my clients to remain at home safely and as independently as possible”.

Amelia joined our team in October of 2022, after spending the previous 9 years in Aged Care Support and 2 years in Mental Health within Group Homes. “I learnt a lot within these two sectors which now assists me in my new role as a Care Manager.  Prior to relocating to the Illawarra from South Australia, Amelia completed her studies in Enrolled Nursing.

“Working at Home Instead Wollongong is like being a part of a beautiful big family. I feel supported, I feel cared for and trusted. Being trusted in a workplace setting has allowed me to flourish, take the lead and push myself to my full potential. Authenticity, dedication, commitment, empathy, and tolerance are my core values, I believe these are all imperative qualities to have to be successful in my role”.

Amelia grew up in the Clare Valley, South Australia and has fond memories of visiting her father at the winery where she learnt about the progress from the harvesting all the way to when it’s placed in a bottle “this is where my love for wine stemmed from, especially champagne”. In her spare time, Amelia enjoys, running and going to the gym “daily movement for me is so important, it fuels my body and makes me feel alive and it’s a part of my daily routine”.

Before starting with Home Instead, Amanda worked as a hairdresser for 20 years, so brought with her a wealth of customer service experience and skills.

Amanda joined our Client Services Team in early 2022 – “I had no experience in this industry but I had people skills and interacted with clients all the time. I realised a wanted to make a difference to someone and find a career where I really felt like I was helping”.

Amanda’s role as Client Services Specialist see’s her taking the lead in the scheduling of her clients and their services, working alongside their CAREGivers. “I speak to my clients about their services and about their specific service needs. I always strive to have consistent communication with my clients and accommodating any changes they may need”.

Amanda takes pride in being able to make a difference in people’s lives and also enjoys the fast-paced challenges that is involved in scheduling. “I find many aspects of my position interesting and exciting”. Amanda takes inspiration from her Mum, who encouraged her to follow her dreams and have a good work ethic”. When Amanda isn’t at work, you can find her at the Gym, paddle boarding or cooking!

Dannielle’s journey with Home Instead started as a CAREGiver in 2021 and joined the office team in 2022, initially in Client Services as a Scheduler, then in Care Coordination working closely with Care Managers, and is now a Care Manager herself.

“I have worked many different jobs in my life, from retail to environmental conservation, trying to find something that fills my cup - I think I have finally found the industry I’m truly passionate about! I love that my days are spent making connections, advocating for clients and their families, and feel continually challenged”.

Dannielle grew up in Orange and has since lived in Newcastle, in and around Byron Bay, and moved to the Illawarra in 2020 to be closer to her family. Dannielle has built a wonderful rapport with all her clients and fellow team members and loves working alongside the supportive team and laughing with them often. When she is not at work, Dannielle enjoys hiking, reading, cooking, and catching up with friends for a lively dinner.

In her role as Accounts Coordinator, Meagan main responsibilities are Caregiver Payroll, Debt collection and Billing.

Joining us in 2022, having worked previously in Banking and Accounts Administration at the local Bowling  Club, Meagan is well versed in all things Payroll and Accounts. “I believe my role at Home Instead has been greatly helped by past experience working with ANZ bank and Thirroul Bowls Club in the Accounts Department. Those roles have helped pave my way, but I also continue to learn so much. I like working with Home Instead because the environment here is very positive, the staff are very kind and generous. I also enjoy interacting with our CAREGiver’s at training, meetings or via phone calls. I believe that kindness and generosity extend throughout the company”.

Meagan grew up locally, enjoying the beach, swimming and surfing. “I love to surf, and swim in the ocean I find it good for the soul. I love yoga, stretch classes and meditation. I love to strength train a few times a week,  get some sunshine, do some hiking and live a healthy lifestyle. Values that drive me not only in this position but in life, would be honesty and recognition. I believe both are very important”.

Monique started with Home Instead as an Accounts Administration Trainee and after successfully completing her qualification, moved into the Accounts Coordination role.

Monique’s role sees her looking after Home Care Package Statements, invoices, assisting with payroll and all things accounts related. “I help clients with enquiries about their statement and account. I’m always striving for constant improvement, there are always to make something better or more efficient. This applies to work with creating new processes or ideas and also personally pushing yourself to become the best version of yourself. It’s a very supportive and uplifting energy in the office where everyone is happy to help!”.

Monique grew up in the coastal town of Kiama “ I grew up in Kiama, very laid back and quiet town (when it’s not school holidays). Lots of coffee shops to fuel my love of coffee”. In her spare time, Monique enjoys getting out in nature, going camping or on bush walks and hikes. I also enjoy things that get my brain going like jigsaws puzzles, crochet and going out for coffee!”.

Amy joined our team in early 2024 in the role of Care Manager. Having over 15 years’ experience in Aged Care in Residential and Community Care, Amy has hit the ground running.

“Being a Care Manager, building a relationship with clients and finding out about their lives and needs is a major part of my role, and a huge passion for me. Working with clients and their family to provide the right care for you. I value all my clients and want to work with each of them to build their trust and respect. Amy is a local, growing up in Balgownie with her parents and siblings. “My Favorite colour is PINK!  And my favourite food would be a good pork roast dinner. When I’m not at work, I’m mum to 3 beautiful children and I love spending time with my family - going on random drives and adventures, baking. I enjoy doing find- a-words and trivia”.

Bernadette joined Home Instead in 2022 to complete a Traineeship in Customer Service. Bernie quickly progressed into the Client Services Team in scheduling before moving into our Accounts Department, in the role of ASP Coordinator.  In her role, Bernie is responsible for managing the end to end Approve Service Provider process and providing timely and efficient administrative support, relating to external service provider management.

Bernie lived in Melbourne until moving to Wollongong when she was 10. “I am one of 9 children and am the middle child. I grew up on a 5-acre farm and my childhood consisted of playing real life ‘Sims’ and ‘Wipeout’ with my siblings.

In her spare time, Bernie enjoys watching the AFL with her, going to concerts and live performances.

Joining us in mid-2023, Nat is one of our wonderful Senior Care Managers, looking after her own clients as well managing and supporting her team of Care Managers. Having previously worked in Nursing for over 15 years before moving across to Community Care, Nat has such a strong passion for Home Care.

“I manage my client’s Home Care packages, overseeing all areas of their package and work closely with my team to ensure our clients needs and goals are tailored them, and are consistently met. I love the core values of Home Instead and find that they align with my own. I have a deep passion for enabling in-home care, and dignity of choice for our clients. I love how Home Instead shares that same passion. I have always love working with the elderly as I feel that they teach me so much and I love to hear their stories of their life and what makes them, them”.

Nat is local, having lived in Dapto since childhood “I have lived in Dapto my whole life. I love the community there and love being close to my family who all live very close to me. I have a Greek background on my Mum’s side and we have always celebrated Greek traditions and now I am passing this onto my own children”.

When Nat is not at work, she enjoys learning about history and different cultures, travelling and exploring new places. “Food is always something I enjoy, by way of eating different types of foods to cooking it myself. I love cooking big meals for when all my family come over and my husband and kids love how I love baking!’.

Monika joined our team in 2024 and is completing her qualification in Business Administration.

Monika role as Workforce Planner involves the daily management of phone and email communication, namely our Home Instead email inbox and delegation of daily tasks for the Client Services team.  Monika assists the Client Services team in providing the highest quality service to clients and external stakeholders.

“I enjoy the challenge of solving complex problems as well as the sense of accomplishment that comes with finding a solution. I enjoy my workplace’s collaborative environment and the opportunity to work with talented and passionate people. I am passionate about my work, and it helps me bring my best to the role. My passion motivates me daily to learn new skills and help as much as possible. I believe that a person’s enthusiasm for assisting others is the most crucial attribute for working in Aged Care”.

Monika grew up I the Illawarra and lived next door to her grandmother “Growing up I learned a lot by having my grandmother living next door and I believe that having her around has helped to mold me into the person I am today. A big part of my life is our Macedonian culture. I love our traditional food and am involved in our dance groups”.

When Monika is not at work, she also enjoys hanging out with friends and going to the beach or for a coffee.

Michael is one of our of Client Services Specialist, joining our team in early 2024.

Michael assists our CAREGiver’s and our clients by coordinating and scheduling their services and building trusting relationships. “ I work with our Clients and CAREGiver’s to fulfill  services specified to individual client needs. During my interactions with clients, I work to provide a comfortable environment for them to open up and share what they really need, so they receive the care they are looking for”.

Michael has an extensive background in Customer Service, working in Retail, Insurance Consulting, Banking and Environmental Administration. “I have always enjoyed the interaction, meeting new people, hearing their journeys, I have found it the best way to empathise with people and approach problems with suitable solutions. I have worked in Disability Care and Youth Care as a Scheduler and Staff Manager, one of the biggest differences I have noticed coming across to Home Instead, is how personalised the service is”.

Michael’s heritage is Polynesian/Australian and grew up in Oyster Bay before moving to the Illawarra. “My Favourite things to do outside of work is spending time with my wife and kids, listening to music, playing games, craft projects, it is freeing to wipe your mind of the seriousness of the world and take a load off laughing and playing”.

As an NDIS Care Coordinator, Chloe is responsible for successfully directing and coordinating all activities associated with the care of potential and existing Ability Care and NDIS clients. Ensuring empowerment and choice for those accessing our services.

“I enjoy working with people and building trust by getting to know my clients, their needs, wants and their passions!  I have spent the last 4 years in hands on roles supporting individuals with disabilities to access the NDIS and live the most fruitful life possible. I love working in a role that allows me to work directly with clients and help get the best outcome possible for them. The culture is amazing at Home Instead, everyone is incredibly supportive! My biggest driver is my commitment to making the world a more accessible place for all.

I like to take the “Dis” out of “Disability” and look at the “Ability.”

Before joining Home Instead, Chloe had also worked as a Travel Agent, making a career change when Covid hit. Chloe grew up in Jamberoo, loves being out in nature and animals. “I love the outdoors, spending time with my family and friends, walking/hiking with my dogs and camping!

Brigitte started with Home Instead in 2020 as a CAREGiver, working in this position until 2023 when she moved in to the role of CAREGiver  Coach. This role see’s Brigitte providing support, coaching & guidance to our CAREGiver’s, assisting with ‘first services’ with new CAREGiving staff and communicating her close observations of our clients and their needs, to the Care Managers. Brigittie’s role serves an integral part of the Home Instead team ensuring the highest levels of quality support and customer service is provided to our clients.

“I love my job, working as a CAREGiver Coach as well advocating for clients. Everyone in the office are just fantastic, friendly, helpful with a heart of gold. I have an adult child with a disability and have been his primary Carer since the day he was born. I believe this life experience has made me who I am and its why I work in this industry. As humans we should be more helpful, loving and understanding with each other”.

Brigittes parent are from Spain – with her family living in Spain, Singapore, Malaysia and settling in Wollongong when she was 10. “I love spending time with my kids, stand up paddleboarding, being with my sister and family times. BBQ with friends, movies, my Martial Arts, and I do love to drive. Taking the dog to the beach, reading and sometimes just being by myself. I don’t have a TV, I do believe we need to live in the now, in the present”.

Courtney came to Home Instead in early 2024, and forms part of our Client Services Team, in the role of Client Services Specialist. Courtney assists in matching the correct CAREGiver with the appropriate Client and ensuring I make a schedule work for all involved.

Courtney is a Wollongong local and had the wonderful experience of living in England for a few years as a child with her family. She even picked up a slight accent! “I have a very small family which is why they are all important to me.  I have son who I cherish more than anything in this world! On the weekends we play basketball, go for scooter rides, go to the beach and we love bowling!”. Courtney also enjoys the occasional game of Bingo “living life to the fullest”.

Bianca Joined our team in 2024 in the role of People Experience Coordinator and has quickly filled the office with her infectious laugh and positive vibes!

Bianca is responsible for the recruitment of our wonderful CAREGiver’s and assists in a variety of clerical and administrative duties to directly support the attraction, recruitment, engagement and learning and development of the CAREGiver Team. “I have over 15 years’ experience working in a corporate capacity, working various roles, including 7 years of Human Resources experience. This helps me when recruiting new CAREGiver’s who are genuine and have the right qualities that align to the company’s values - I love the fact Home Instead considers personal qualities and experience as well as professional experience”.

Bianca was born and raised in Sydney, before morning to the Illawarra. “My Grandmother is the biggest influence/idol in my life and has helped shape me be the person I am today, as well as encouraged my passion for cooking and continuing family traditions”.

Abby joined our team in 2024 and forms part of our Administration team. Abby’s role is to act us the first point of contact for phone calls, and front desk enquires. “My role at Home Instead is to act as the first point of contact for Home Instead, via the phone and at the front desk.  I answer general enquiries and I direct each caller onto the appropriate team member -  I try to make all callers feel heard and understood”.

Abby has previous experience in customer service and public facing roles, and has such a delightful, warm phone manner! “I enjoy working at Home Instead as I feel I can make a difference in someone else’s life. It allows me to give back to others and help people during the good times and the more challenging times. Being part of a team that cares for others and improves the lives of individuals and their families is what drives me. I am driven by the prospect of improving someone’s quality of life and I am passionate about advocating for the rights of others”. Abby grew up in Wollongong and has also spent some time working across Australia and traveling overseas. “I love the beach and swimming! I have a crazy puppy that takes up a lot of time and I also enjoy travelling and spending time with my friends and family”.

Joining us in 2024, Cassie works part-time in our Accounts Department assisting the team with administrative accounts duties. Cassie has a background in Retail and Hospitality, Real Estate Property Management.

“I started out working in retail and hospitality when I finished school then moved into admin roles. I worked in the Real Estate industry as a Property Manager for 6 years before taking some time off to raise my children. I also worked nights at the local Bowling Club so I could spend my days with the kids which I am forever grateful for. Home Instead has given me the opportunity to be able to grow as a person and learn a variety of skills - it’s rewarding and meaningful to me knowing we are making a difference to the lives of ageing adults and their families”

Cassie grew up in a coastal town on the South Coast of NSW, before moving to the Illawarra with her partner, two kids and two dogs. “My favourite food growing up was my grandma’s soup which I couldn’t wait to have when we went to visit my grandparents.  My weekends and spare time are spent exploring the region with my family, going for walks, the beach, grabbing a coffee at a café. I also do love getting some time to myself to watch a movie or go to the gym to unwind”.

Michelle has worked in the Aged Care and Community Sector for over 20 years, starting her career as a CAREGiver in Facility Care. Michelle joined our Care Management team in 2024 and has hot the ground running. “I have previously worked as Leisure and Lifestyle (Activities) Team Leader across two Aged Care Facilities. I have also worked as a Community Services Trainer with Red Cross in the Northern Territory. It was here I learnt to be creative in keeping people engaged and focused. The best way to best build trust is to listen and walk in your clients shoes. Understand where the client is coming from so that the response will be adjusted to meet their background or need. Choice is the most important thing to me. Ensuring the right information is shared so an informed choice can be made.  I do believe everyone has the right to live their life how they choose, this includes where they are living. The freedom for expression and opinion is also important.

Bown in Western Australian, Michelle went to school in the Northern Territory and Queensland – with her father in the Navy, before coming to the Illawarra. “We have grown up with different cultures and people, so as individuals within a family group we have different taste in foods likes and dislikes”. Michelle enjoys variety in life – exploring, travelling, reading, researching. “I do like to go walking and swimming all year round. I play computer games and bake. Occasionally watch TV. I love attending the theatre and sporting events. My family history research can take up a lot of spare time. Australian History and History of Great Britian is also a great  interest of mine”.

Sam is one of our wonderful Client Care Coordinators, with his role primarily responsible for new client service enquires. Sam joined us in May 2024, having previously worked for My Aged Care as a Customer Service Specialist. “I helped people to navigate the Aged Care system, showing them how it all works and explaining the next steps. I enjoy getting to speak to new people and provide assistance, guidance and comfort. I am driven by doing the right thing by others and helping those who cannot help themselves. This very much relates to my current position at Home Instead -  I speak to many people who are unsure of what they can access and unsure of how to access those supports”.

Sam family background is Spanish and spent at lot of his childhood eating seafood caught from the lake and made into traditional Spanish dishes. “I enjoy spending time with my partner and two Labradoodles Maggie and Penny. I also enjoy classic action films from the 70s and the 80s and tend to be an avid pop culture buff. I also enjoy keeping up with my fitness and going to the gym regularly”.
