Your service was initially recommended to me by a friend who worked in the aged care sector, after my dad was diagnosed with Dementia, and we as a family realised that he required more than someone just to come in to vacuum.
Initially the Home Instead manager Jo , came out and met with Dad, myself and my sister and discussed the sort of help that we felt he might need, his preferences as to carers, and where Dad felt comfortable in using the carer’s assistance. Jo was so lovely with him and recognised that this was really difficult for all of us, and in particular Dad who was struggling with having to give up so much of his independence. By the end of that meeting Jo had a carer in mind who she felt would be a good fit for Dad, and the following week the wonderful John was visiting us.
As Dad’s needs changed there were other carers who also were extraordinary in the care and compassion for Dad. The carers were always on time, well presented and worked very hard at establishing rapport with Dad, which was something that both he and I greatly appreciated. There were a couple of isolated incidents where that ‘fit’ was not so great and we felt supported by Home Instead to request alternate carers. This was very reassuring, as I know only too well how difficult it is to recruit to these positions, and the trickiness of rostering, and individual preferences.
From our very first interaction to our last , we felt incredibly lucky to have found your agency, and the carers who are part of it, and I would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone seeking support for their family member.
