I am very grateful for the support received from Home Instead and each carer over the last few years. The professionalism, kindness, and support were consistent and unmatched by any other service provider for the elderly which I have experienced.
There are two carers which come to mind who went above and beyond for George, being Bubby and Maureen. George really enjoyed the company of both of these carers and it was very clear to me that they genuinely cared for his wellbeing. Both Maureen and Bubby felt like an extension of our family, who were there to help in any way they could. Bubby supported George throughout his radiation therapy treatments, which eased an enormous burden on myself as I worked full time and could not take him to his daily appointments. It was an intensive treatment and took a massive toll on George’s health, therefore it meant a lot that George had a familiar and trusted face supporting him each day. He would often ask Bubby to stay for tea and biscuits, which was a big compliment as George often did not want carers to stay for longer than required.
I believe Bubby left Home Instead in 2021 due to an injury, and then we were blessed with Maureen coming into our lives. I am eternally grateful for the support provided by Maureen. She was kind, patient, observant, reliable and respectful towards George and myself. I had a lot on my plate throughout 2021 and 2022, and she would at times reach out to ask how I was going and provided reassurance. It was clear that Maureen cared, as there were times when she would adjust her personal schedule so that she could take George to his appointments. She was observant and proactive with raising concerns regarding George’s wellbeing, and she would ensure that George was safe and comfortable before departing. Following the termination of services due to his extended stay in hospital we kept in touch via text message, as she expressed her sympathy and concerns for George. Maureen and Bubby both embody the mission of Home Instead and I truly hope that they are recognized for their efforts.
