Rod holds a double degree in Social Work from Latrobe University in Melbourne. He has worked in the Aged Care Industry for over 25 years in a wide range of both leadership and service delivery roles in Melbourne, Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and the United Kingdom. He is passionate about providing high-quality services in response to supporting Seniors their carers and families.
Rod is involved in many aspects of the daily operations of Home Instead – Mid North Coast, and also contributes much of his time in supporting community groups involved in the areas of Ageing and Dementia as well as being a thought leader contributing the wider Home Instead franchise network across Australia.
Rod was a key support to his father while caring for his mother at home who had Parkinson’s disease. He continued to take an active role in his mother’s care and well-being following her move to residential aged care. Sadly, Rod’s father was diagnosed with a terminal illness 10 months after his mother’s death. Respecting his father’s wish to remain living in his own home Rod took the lead in caring from him with the support of his siblings, extended family and formal services enabling his father’s wishes to be honoured.
“Over the last four years since Scott Marsh and I opened our business on the Mid North Coast NSW, we have gone from strength to strength by offering a locally owned and operated service that is underpinned by an ever-growing team of caring and compassionate people who are truly invested in being a part of Changing the Face of Ageing, helping our Seniors.
Away from daily business, I love spending time at home and in our local community relaxing, sharing and doing volunteer work.”
Before opening the Home Instead Mid North Coast offices with Rod Lewis, Scott’s career has delivered to him experience in both small and corporate businesses around Australia in e-Commerce/eBusiness, Sales and Marketing, Learning and Development and Management.
Scott is committed to volunteer work in local communities both around Seniors and wider community development and spends out of work time getting involved in helping others. Scott is currently serving as President of the MacLeay Valley Business Chamber.
“I am committed to the welfare of others and believe in helping other people live full and productive lives. I am passionate also about Customer Service and encourage this in our business and the wider business community that I am involved with through volunteering.
Whilst my ageing mother lives interstate, I speak with her regularly and take any opportunity I can to visit her. Having my Mum gives me the opportunity to experience at a personal level what Seniors and their families face through daily living and this translates into better understanding and working for the people we serve at Home Instead – Mid North Coast.
I feel so proud of our team on the Mid North Coast, I get choked up when I see all the team working together and when we meet with our clients, a business that started just four years ago with Rod Lewis and a handful of CAREGivers and that we provide care for so many people in our region. Together we work alongside all at Home Instead Australia as we work hard to Change the Face of Ageing.”
“In September 2017, I was approached by Scott Marsh and Rod Lewis to join their team at Home Instead – Mid North Coast. They had identified my knowledge and ability to explain the way in which a Home Care pathway for Seniors in Australia operates, Home Care Packages, Private Care services and the Commonwealth Home Support Program after witnessing my interaction with an elderly relative.”
Sharon has an extensive career in health and education in various roles including business operations across both the public and private sectors.
She is the primary carer for her parents, both ageing and one living with dementia and she understands firsthand the challenges that the Seniors and their carers and families are faced with on a day to day basis. Sharon, through her love for her parents is very committed to and enjoys caring for them which allows them to remain independent and living in their own home.
“I love working for Home Instead – Mid North Coast; No two days are the same as the whole team strive to serve our very special clients and I know that the whole team focus on changing the face of ageing, delivering optimum personal services and companionship to our clients as well as helping them with their daily living needs and advocating for them in a time where they, like my parents are becoming more vulnerable in the process of ageing.
I also love working to oversee the providing of professional development to our ever-growing team of Professional CAREGivers ensuring we meet our client’s daily needs.
In my spare time away from work I love spending time with my adult children and my three gorgeous grandsons (the most beautiful little boys in the world) and having quality time with my friends.”
Payroll & Finance Coordinator
Deb joined our team October 2017, on a part time basis in scheduling whilst completing her studies in Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care). Deb is responsible for Leading and developing the Scheduling Team, Quality, and Payroll processing.
Deb has a very strong management and administrative background in the public service and is passionate about customer service and helping others. It’s Deb’s commitment to helping those around her both in the community and at work, and her compassion for others that lead her into the Aged Care industry and, that in turn makes her a great Team Leader with a wealth of experience to share in the running of the Mid North Coast Home Instead offices.
“Whilst I was on a “senior gap year” I spent time caring for an elderly lady whilst her carer had respite time. I loved this very special time and felt privileged to be able to make a difference to both her and her carer in their daily lives.
“I enjoy working in the Aged Care Industry, interacting with clients, carers and CAREGivers and supporting them and I love working with Home Instead – Mid North Coast. Being a part of this Team I feel respected, valued and appreciated which in turn allows me to truly give toward the best experience for our clients.
When I’m not at work, I am a keen Dragon Boater spending lots of time on the water training and competing and I’m a keen environmentalist. We all have social responsibilities to those around us and our environment and I for one, want to do my part in Changing the Face of Ageing. I love being a devoted grandmother and take every chance I can to see my grandchildren.”
Suzanne started joined Home Instead – Mid North Coast in 2016 as a CAREGiver, and has progressed her way to Lead CAREGiver, helping new team member s onboard and supporting existing team members with their professional development.
Suzanne holds a Certificate III in Individual Support (aged care). Prior to joining the team, Suzanne worked at Omnicare day respite in Port Macquarie which she found the experience very valuable and rewarding helping people that are living with dementia and or ageing.
Suzanne chose to work in Age Care because to her, it is an honour to be caring for our valuable and most respected members of our community and what she loves most about her job is making a difference in the lives of our clients and sharing her heart with them.

Roy had a long career in the corporate world overseas, and when he returned to the Mid North Coast twelve years ago, Roy was looking for a career that had meaning and where he could make a difference.
Having cared for a relative at the end stages of her life, Roy decided to enter the Aged Care Industry and there I found my niche.
Roy has since spent the years in various roles, commencing as a CAREGiver and moving up to providing services for high care clients. I then transitioned through to client coordination, CAREGiver recruitment, training and development, and has now arrived at his current role with Home Instead – Mid North Coast, working with our clients on a daily basis to support their needs.
“I really enjoy the interaction with our clients, building rapport with them and becoming a trusted partner in their care. The real reward for me is making a difference to their day but also sharing in the richness of their life stories and experiences.

Christine has been involved has worked in both Hospital and Pharmacy roles for over 20 years before joining Home Instead – Mid North Coast as a CAREGiver initially and has since moved into an Administration role in our Tuncurry Ageing Information Centre supporting with assisting with client requests and people that come into our Ageing Information Centre seeking help on Aged Care pathways for people in the Great Lakes region. Whilst Christine spends most of her work time in the office, she also keeps her hand in as one of our CAREGivers.

Bronwyn moved from Sydney to the NSW Mid North Coast region 19 years ago. Living in a regional are she discovered the importance of a strong community base and began her career in a corporate retail franchise where she progressed through the ranks throughout 17years. Throughout that seventeen years Bronwyn’s career developed into the areas of Human Resources, Learning and Development.
Bronwyn came on board with Home Instead – Mid North Coast in early 2019. In her role as the Recruitment and Development Facilitator, she works very closely with our CAREGivers, supporting their learning and development as well as taking the lead in the recruitment of new people to our CAREGiver team.
“I understand the daily needs of older people as my family have always been very close and my grandparents lived with us until they passed away. I have a very close relationship with my elderly mother and see her almost daily.
I am honoured to be part of such a great team as I truly value helping others succeed and absolutely love that we make a positive difference in our clients lives and the community.
When I am not on the clock, I am very much a home body, spending time with family, and our pets, turning the music up loud and cleaning whilst dancing.
Life needs to be enjoyed and loved as we are only given one and I try my best every day to be thankful for what I have and the opportunities that present themselves.”
People & Culture Support
Tori started her role as a temp with Home Instead – Mid North Coast and was such an asset to the team that within a short time was offered a fulltime position. She chose to work in Aged Care as it allows her the chance to help make a difference in the lives of those who have already spent their lives giving to everyone else.
Although Tori has only been with the team a short while, she loves the interactions experienced so far with our clients and CAREGivers. Hearing positive feedback from clients about our CAREGivers shows the true value of Home Instead.
“I love working with Home Instead as the team I spend my days with all work together as one to provide the best service possible.
Outside of work, I’m heavily involved in sport. During winter I play League Tag for the Wauchope Blues and during summer I play touch football. In my down time, I love spending time outdoors either on my family’s property in the country or at the beach with my dog Zeus.”
Kara joined the Home Instead – Mid North Coast Team in March 2018 in an administration role, then progressed into a scheduling role.
Kara holds a Certificate III in Aged care (AIN) and has worked in the aged care industry for the past seven years firstly as a carer with a home care provider and also in Residential Care Facilities in Armidale NSW then went on to work with Meals on Wheels before relocating to Port Macquarie to join our team.
Kara enjoys working in the aged care industry as it provides the opportunity to offer a wide variety of support to our Seniors and their carers and families. Such a difference can be made to their quality of life and help them reach their goals to remain at home for a longer period. Kara believes that having these types of services available to the community make a real difference in so many lives both Clients, Families and Carers.

It fantastic being a member of a team that is so committed to making a difference in the lives of older people in our communities that we serve.
In my spare time I enjoy spending quality time at home with my family, I just love being a Mum and have wonderful children.”
Kaylene is our specialist Dementia Consultant at home Instead Senior Care – Mid North Coast providing information, education and support to carers of people living with dementia and our team of CAREGivers. She has a background in nursing, with twenty-five years in Dementia specific roles, the past ten years with Dementia Australia as well as concurrently teaching Aged Care and Leisure & Lifestyle courses at TAFE NSW.
Working in Dementia specific roles was a natural transition for Kaylene, having cared for two family members living with dementia, which she believes has given her insight into and an understanding of the lived experience of carers.
Kaylene loves working with Home Instead – Mid North Coast immensely rewarding due to the philosophy, ‘to us its personal’, the strong team commitment and the focus of everyone on the team including the owners to provide the best service possible, all of which results in improving the quality of life for our clients.
“When I’m not working, I enjoy being out and about in the beautiful natural environment of the mid north coast particularly with family and friends, and I can happily ‘escape’ with a good book and I’m also invested in supporting our community through volunteering.”
Gabriella joined Home Instead – Mid North Coast in May 2018 working full time as an Administrative Assistant and Receptionist.
Recently returning from Maternity leave Gabriella is now working part-time supporting our Human Resources and Business Strategy teams and assisting with any current projects that our Business is involved with.
Gabriella has completed her Certificate III in Business Administration and has a background in customer service/accounts/sales and has worked with large corporations in both Sydney and the Gold Coast. She was also a Nanny to three children for 2.5 years whilst living/working in London in 2010.

Aged Care Advisor
Nola works in the northern region of Home Instead – Mid North Coast, based from our Kempsey office.
Nola joined us initially as a CAREGiver in 2016 and has a background as in nursing and other business areas Earthmoving and the food retail industries through family owned and operated businesses providing her with many years of business and care experience prior to retiring.
Nola found that retirement was not her ‘cup of tea’ so after some volunteer charity work, began looking for opportunities to get back into the work force.
After seeing an article in the local press that the Franchise owners of Home Instead on the Mid North Coast had taken out a business award, Nola phoned to congratulate them, (and put out a few feelers). Commencing her employment as a CAREGiver, Nola found this role was very rewarding and satisfying, making a difference in lives of others. Because of her passion to help and her commitment to our clients and Home Instead, Nola was overjoyed when offered the opportunity to become a Care Consultant, an opportunity to advise and educate and advocate for our clients their families, carers and Seniors in our community.
