Private Home Care for Seniors
Whether you're waiting to be approved for a Home Care Package or need in-home care urgently, privately funded home care options are available, supporting you or a loved one.
Call Our TeamPrivate in-home care for extra support & urgent home care needs!
As Australia’s elderly population increases, so does the demand for aged care and in-home care services. For many ageing Australians, the best approach to receiving home care is through the Home Care Package (HCP) programme, however this may not always be suitable or even enough for some individuals. Privately or self funding your home care services is an approach that gets you care more directly and promptly. Although you do pay for your own home care out of your own pocket and income, there is no need for government approval (like HCP) and no long waiting times, and you can choose exactly what home care services you want or need.
Home Instead’s private in-home care option is ideal if you or an elderly loved one:
- Need home care services immediately or urgently;
- Are looking to tailor your care to meet the exact services you need; or
- You are waiting for government funding like a Home Care Package, but need care services while you wait.
Our in-home care services are flexible, available as a one-off, short-term or ongoing care arrangement and are tailored to your personal preferences, circumstances, as well as budget. No matter what level of care you’re seeking, Home Instead can offer you a suitable solution.

Another option to help with Self Funded Private Care
If you do not meet the eligibility requirements of any government subsidy, another option to help with self-funded private care would be the early release of superannuation on compassionate grounds. In some instances, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) can approve for the early release of your superannuation on compassionate grounds to help you pay for medical expenses (for you or a dependent), palliative care for a terminal illness, and the modification of your home or vehicle for the special needs of you, or your dependent owing to a severe disability.
To be eligible for this, you (or the dependent for home-care) must have:
- A life threatening illness or injury;
- Acute or chronic pain; or
- Acute or chronic mental illness; or
- For disability – have a physical or mental impairment which either temporarily or permanently limits one of more of their core functional capabilities.
