A typical day at work was different with each client, the variety kept the job interesting. My clients were very diverse and had all lived very interesting lives that they shared with me. I developed friendships with almost all of my clients and coworkers.I learned a vast array of skills, too many to list here. Paid classroom training for two weeks, then monthly training is required. After one year of training and working with clients I qualified for my Patient Assistant certification.Management couldn't have been better! Caregivers were welcomed in the office any time and seen without appointments. We were told it was our office too. The owners met with us and spoke to us about how we felt about the company, our jobs, what suggestions we might have, where we wanted to be in the future within the company, etc.The work place culture was very friendly and fun! They held seasonal partied, and summertime cookouts that everyone was invited including our family. The hardest part of this type of work, is when our clients pass away and we have to pull up our boot straps and move on to the next client. We were always invited to the funeral as we became an integral part of the family. The most enjoyable part of the job was spending fun time with clients, playing games, reading, going on picnics, and attending functions with in their community and social groups.I loved working for Home Instead! It is superior to any other home health care company that I have had experience with. I highly recommend this employer. Pros Training, training, training! Family fun culture. Open door policy. Cons Pay seems minimal, and lower than some other agencies. That said, I would still prefer working at Home Instead.
