About this opportunity

Home Instead are in an exciting period of growth and looking for an In-House Legal Counsel to join our National Office in Toowong. This role is responsible for providing legal advice and guidance on matters of law relating to all aspects of business operations and strategies for the Home Instead Australia and New Zealand corporate network.

This will include: the review, management and drafting of legal documents, assessment and management of risks, corporate governance, leading negotiations on behalf of the organisation with suppliers, and prospective or existing franchise owners.

  • Provide accurate and timely counsel & guidance to leadership team on AUS & NZ legal topics (franchise law, M&A, privacy etc)
  • Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues
  • Develop and implement internal corporate governance policies and regularly monitor compliance via regular internal audit processes.
  • Support the implementation of the Home Instead franchise repurchase programme, performing due diligence & overseeing legal onboarding to corporate
  • Create and manage standardised legal framework and templates
  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts
  • Provide regular legal & compliance updates to Group CLO, the CEO, and the leadership team.

About you:

  • Admitted to practice in Australia
  • 5-8 years’ experience of post qualification experience working on a broad mix of transactions.
  • Knowledge of corporate governance and company secretarial matters
  • Experience in franchise, commercial contracts and/or in-house law
  • Able to think ahead to organize and update the structure of the legal transactions in such a way that it is continuously prepared for the next growth phase.
  • Ability to travel interstate
