The Home Instead Academy will provide and deliver training and assessment of the highest standard to ensure that the provision of care to our Home Instead clients is based on evidence based, safe, quality practices. The Academy endeavors to provide real-world, work-based training allowing CAREGivers and Key Players to achieve their full potential while maintaining safe work practices.
The Home Instead Academy is an Enterprise Registered Training Organisation (ERTO) registered to offer nationally recognised training Home Instead employees.
Nationally Recognised Training
As an ERTO, the Home Instead Academy complies with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 and is regulated by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
The Home Instead Academy, as an ERTO, can issue Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) Certification documentation once learners have successfully completed the requirements of the nationally recognised program that they are enrolled in.
All Home Instead Academy training programs undergo continuous quality improvement processes,
which can include:
- Annual evaluation
- Validation and Moderation
- Liaison with industry bodies
Enrolment
Enrolment occurs upon request from employed CAREGivers or Key Players and when a person employed by Home Instead has been fully informed of the course program, and associated policies and procedures, including fees and payment terms and conditions.
A confirmation of enrolment email will be sent to the learner once the online enrolment has been received by the Home Instead Administration team.
Entry Requirements
Each nationally recognized training program that the Home Instead Academy has on its scope of registration will have a specific entry requirement.
All training programs have the following pre-requisite requirements:
- Employment with Home Instead
- Completion of a language, literacy and numeracy skills indicator questionnaire
- Learners must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English as all courses are delivered in English only
- Access to a computer and software (eg Microsoft Word / Google Chrome) as needed to access and complete our Empower (Learning Management
System) and aXcelerate (Student Management System) learning and assessment portals, including camera and audio access - Access to an internet connection with sufficient capacity to download course materials (e.g., broadband connection)
- A demonstrated capacity and willingness to complete training in a professional and courteous manner
- Identify if you will require any Credit transfers or recognition of prior learning (RPL)
Home Instead Academy reserves the right to only admit learners whom it believes meet the entry criteria.

Fees & Payment Options
Prior to commencement of a Home Instead Academy course, learners will be provided with information that explains the fees for the training course. The Home Instead Academy will publish all course fee details on the course website and information will be given at induction.
The learner enrolment process requires a learner to agree and accept to pay the course fees, as required.

Cancellation; Withdrawal or Deferral
Notification of cancellation and/or withdrawal from unit/s of competency, withdrawal, or deferral from a course of study must be made in writing to the Home Instead Academy.
For learners who wish to withdraw from their course, please complete the Student Withdrawal Request Form and submit it to Home Instead Academy via email at: academy@homeinstead.com.au

Refund Policy
The Home Instead Academy has the following policy regarding refunds of fees to learners.
The Home Instead Academy offers a fair and equitable refund policy that complies with all legislative
requirements.Prior to course commencement, if a learner withdraws or cancels their course a full refund of fees will be provided to the learner.
Learners who leave Home Instead employment prior to completing their course will not receive a refund unless a medical certificate is provided. In this instance a refund, less administrative fee of $100 will be provided on units of competency not yet commenced.
Course fees paid for once the course is ‘In progress’ will not be refunded to the learner, except under the following circumstances:
- The Home Instead Academy cancels, or discontinues the training course program that the learner has enrolled into
- Home Instead Academy does not continue to be a Registered Training Organisation
- The Learner withdraws from a course due to serious illness (we will refund any course fees paid less an administrative fee of $100) a medical certificate is required.
Application for a refund of training fees in accordance with the Refund Policy must be made in writing on the Refund Request Form and submitted to Home Instead Academy via email

Other Course Pathways
Credit Transfers
The Home Instead Academy accepts evidence of AQF certification documentation issued by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or AQF authorised issuing organisation. Learners must advise the administration team prior to commencing their studies that they have evidence of credit transfers.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for all nationally recognised training, including individual Units of Competency.
RPL involves an assessment of your current skills, knowledge and experience and how they may meet the requirements of the Training Package. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate (provide evidence) you already have the skills and knowledge you may be eligible for partial or full recognition.
RPL Candidates must be aware that they will be required to provide documented evidence that meets the requirements of the training package. The RPL process complies with the training package requirements and is conducted in accordance with the Principles of Assessment and the Rules of Evidence.
The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) has a requirement of 120 hours of work placement/experience working as CAREGiver in aged care, all RPL application must meet this requirement in order to be accepted.
Successful RPL Candidates will be notified promptly of their RPL suitability and provided with an RPL Kit to complete.

CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support
The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) is designed to develop a broad range of competencies and skills. The demand for aged care, support workers and caregivers in the community sector is increasing.
This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualized plan to provide person-centered support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.
